Reporting to the Director of Development and the Executive Director, the Associate Director for Grants and Compliance is a new position requiring expertise across several areas in supporting the mission of the School. This position demands an individual focused on expanding our successful development program through effective grant writing, data mining and tracking. In addition, the position requires monitoring state and federal communications regarding accountability and compliance as well as working with members of the Management Team to ensure that all compliance deadlines are met in an effective and timely manner. The successful applicant will have exceptional interpersonal skills in representing Neighborhood House to external and internal constituencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a deep understanding of the mission and identity of Neighborhood House in order to best match potential funding sources to our strengths and goals as well as to make compelling presentations of the NHCS mission to potential donors and the community at large
- Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to foundation, corporate and individual sources.
- Research and identify new corporate, foundation and government funding prospects and gather necessary information on current grant programs to report to these potential funders
- Comply with all grant reporting as required by government, foundation and corporate donors; maintain strong relationships with current donors by providing regular written updates and responding to their queries
- Maintain and improve record keeping in database and paper files, including grant tracking and reporting
- Track and interpret statistics relevant to development and regularly report, in writing, on what materials are necessary for donor stewardship. Examples may include number and diversity data, educational program attendance, etc.
- Work closely with Director of Development in providing development input for all written institutional materials and to assist with other fundraising projects as requested
- Monitor all communications from state and federal government concerning compliance and accountability as well as grant opportunities
- Internally disseminate regulatory requirements and timelines to appropriate members of the Management Team; gather, consolidate, and document necessary information to satisfy regulatory requirements
- Perform additional administrative tasks that support the Executive Director and the school as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Minimum of three years’ experience with grant writing, including some experience with government grant writing, preferred
- Strong writing skills, including the ability to articulately convey complex statistical and numerical data in a clear and uncomplicated manner
- Respect for and adherence to deadlines
- Strong and respectful contributor in team environments
