Kate is NHCS’s Executive Director. In her previous position as Assistant Headmaster, Kate oversaw the academic program for NHCS’s 400 students. Kate has been at NHCS since 1996, serving as a 4th grade teacher, an 8th grade math teacher, and Dean of the Middle School. Michelle joined NHCS in 2011 as Director of Special Education and Student Support. Prior to joining NHCS, Michelle was a special education and a general education teacher, as well as Director of Education and Training at the May Center for Education and Neurorehabilitation. Jahmeelah Bai-Grandson is the Founding Principal of the NHCS High School. She will spend the 2016-17 school year planning the high school in advance of the school’s launch in September 2017. Before joining NHCS, she was a high school teacher and middle and high school administrator. Jahmeelah graduated from Cambridge College. In addition to her Administrative Certification, which she earned at Northeastern University, Jahmeelah holds joint Masters’ Degrees in Social Work and Public Health from Boston University. Emily is Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She directs the planning, delivery, assessment, and ongoing improvement of curriculum and instructional programs throughout the school. She is also responsible for developing and managing partnerships with Boston Public Schools and other organizations in order to share lessons learned about effective practice and support high quality instruction for Boston Students. Emily came to NHCS in 2001 as a middle school English teacher. She holds a BA from Brown University and a Masters in Education from Harvard University. Email Emily.
Bodi joined NHCS as Director of Development in 2012. Prior to joining NHCS, she was Development Manager at LearningWorks in Portland, Maine and Senior Director at Changing Our World, a fundraising consulting firm in New York City. She graduated from Yale University and earned a Masters in Nonprofit Management from the New School University. Email Bodi.
Cara is NHCS’s Principal for grades K-4. At NHCS, she has taught first, third and fourth grade and served as the literacy coach and Director of the English as a Second Language Program. Cara graduated from Boston University, holds a Master’s of Science in Teaching from Pace University and a License of Educational Administration from Northeastern University. Sean is NHCS’s Principal for grades 5-8. He joined NHCS in 1998 as a Social Studies/Humanities Teacher and served as Associate Dean before taking his current position in 2004. Sean graduated from Colorado College and holds a Masters in Educational Administration from UMass Boston. In 1994-95, Sean spent a year as a City Year corps member in Chicago. Email Sean.
As Director of Strategic Projects, Molly guided NHCS through a year-long strategic planning process that ended in April 2013. and is now responsible for plan implementation and other special projects. Previously, Molly served as the school’s Director of Development. Prior to coming to NHCS, Molly served as Director of Development & External Affairs at Prep for Prep in New York City. Paula joined NHCS as Chief Financial Officer in 2011. A CPA, Paula was previously Finance Director at Elizabeth Seton Academy and the South Shore Conservatory of Music.
