After School Program
Program Overview
The NHCS after school program supports children in K1 through 7 to learn, grow and reach their full potential in an environment in which they feel safe, affirmed and loved. Scholars engage in structured activities in groups of no more than ten, led by one after school teacher and one junior counselor in training. The after school program includes dedicated time for homework completion and choice-based enrichment activities. A range of rich learning experiences is offered through partnerships with local organizations, quality teacher-led workshops, and local field trips. The program offerings are based on our collective mission of providing excellent care for a child’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical well-being.
In order to provide quality programming after school seats are limited and will be assigned in the order that applications are received. While we will always do our best to accommodate families, there is no guarantee you will receive a seat in the program. We encourage families to have an alternate pick up plan in the event you are not selected. Families should expect to know if their scholar has been offered a seat around mid-August.
Eligibility
- Must be enrolled at Neighborhood House Charter School
- Must be entering K1 to 7th Grade
- Must be able to pick up scholar by 6PM each day
Program Types
We offer a full week program that starts at 2 or more days and a Wednesday Only program. For continuity of programming, we ask families to commit to the days they select and/or reach out to Ms. KJ () to make any changes. All services begin at dismissal and end at 6PM.
Fees & Payment
This is a fee-for-service program with rates on a sliding scale based on income and household size. There is no option for 2-3-4 days a week special pricing. This is to encourage continuity for our staff and students so we can have high-quality curriculum where lessons and activities can build on the previous ones. The cost of the program has been evenly distributed across the school year so each month the price will be the same, regardless of vacation time. Scholars with siblings will receive discounted pricing per sibling. Monthly fees include field trips and extracurriculars although some programs may require an additional fee.

Families who need it may request financial assistance.
Do you accept vouchers?
We currently do not accept vouchers officially but we do offer a fee match for any childcare voucher dated within the last 2 years.
How do I pay my fees each month?
NHCS uses a platform called MySchoolBucks for all school associated fees. If you are offered a seat, you will receive instructions on how to set up your account and/or how to pay your invoice. Invoices will be sent on the first of each month and will be due on the last business day of each month.
Food & Snacks
We provide one snack per scholar per day for free. We encourage families to send their scholar to school with snacks in case they do not want to eat the school provided food. NHCS is a nut-free campus, please ensure all food contains no nuts of any kind.
Transportation
There will be no transportation provided. All families must make their own pick up arrangements for their scholars each day.
Pickup & Late Fees
All scholars must be picked up by 6PM each day. We charge a $1/minute fee for every minute after 6:04PM. Scholars with excessive lateness and fees may be removed from the program.
